Botanical waste products are recycled (above) to provide energy for the manufacturing process, reducing outside energy use several fold compared to conventional extraction facilities. Additionally, excess botanical waste products are donated to local farmers and used as a substitute for synthetic fertilizers. A proprietary internal wastewater treatment facility cleans and recycles water, eliminating runoff to the local watershed. A large part of our quality control is knowing where our raw materials come from – traceability and transparency are primary concerns here at Verdure Sciences®. Thanks to company contracted farming relationships, some of which are certified organic, a paper trail follows our pomegranate raw materials from the orchards to the factory.

Because we know exactly where our pomegranate fruit comes from, we can offer an

ingredient that complies with industry guidelines for residual pesticides and heavy

metals that is also non-GMO.  Each batch of incoming pomegranate fruit is also verified

by Thin Layer Chromatography, which confirms the identity of the raw materials past

a mere visual inspection.

Through full knowledge and control of the farming and harvesting processes, we can

also offer pomegranates harvested under fair trade practices.

Additionally, part of the Pomella® research process has involved finding the best

cultivar, or cultivated variety, of pomegranate, offering the widest range of associated

health benefits. Through full control of the raw materials, we add an extra level of

assurance that each batch of Pomella Extract is consistent with the associated in vitro

and in vivo research and results.

Pomella® Pomegranate Extract is developed as an ingredient for dietary supplements, functional foods, cosmeceuticals, etc. and is available in powder, granule, and other grades. Due to our complete control: from procurement to manufacturing and research, various forms of Pomella can be custom formulated and specially tailored.

The patented and proprietary manufacturing process that preserves the natural, water soluble, polyphenolic ratio of pomegranate fruit according to the strict specifications developed by university research.

Operating under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), certified organic (when applicable), ISO, HACCP, Kosher and Halal certified; our hands-free botanicals-only facility does not process pharmaceuticals or other fine chemicals,

and adheres to the highest equipment standards – down to the highest grade of

stainless steel in our extraction vessels – helping to offer contaminant-free

ingredients that are highly consistent from batch to batch.

Our manufacturing facility employs several systems that contribute to environmental

responsibility and sustainability, including recycling, energy efficiency, and internal

water treatment.

In addition to our vertically integrated control, from the farm to the drum, each

batch of Pomella® Extract must undergo rigorous analyses at both in-house and

independent laboratories, as detailed in our product and manufacturing

Ingredients are as good as the methodology behind them; without appropriate methodology it is difficult to know that a product, or ingredient, meets the rigorous specifications, or claims, made. Therefore, we use the recognized, repeatable methods published in peer-reviewed literature, and the most advanced instrumentation available, including one or more of the following: 

  • Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP/MS), Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography for Impurities/Chemical Analysis
  • HPLC and HPTLC for Identity and Purity, in Addition to Other Non-Specific Colorimetric Methods such as UV-Vis Spectrometry
  • Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS or LC/MS/MS) for Trace Compounds and Pharmacokinetic Analyses
  • Bioactivity Analyses using Cell Cultures and Detection Methods such as Enzyme-Linked Immunoassays, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Techniques, and Immunofluorescence Imaging
  • Clinical Endpoint Analyses using Imaging Tools such as Position Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging
