FAQ
Q: How is POMELLA® Extract made?
A: POMELLA® Extract is made at our company-contracted, ISO 9000:2001, HACCP, Kosher- and Halal-certified botanicals-only facility in rural environmental zone in Gujarat, India. This facility is built to FDA norms and designed specifically for environmental sustainability. For example, our facility has a specific Waste Recycling System designed to process our specific botanical waste by-product as both fertilizer and energy source. A proprietary internal wastewater treatment facility supplies clean water with zero runoff to the local watershed; and design of the facility was made with large consideration to solar and wind energy efficiency. A simplified flow chart on the process that makes POMELLA® Extract is found here.
Q: What type of pomegranate fruit is in POMELLA® Extract?
A: Part of our research process involved finding the best cultivar, or cultivated variety, of pomegranate that offered the greatest health benefits, however the exact cultivar is information that is part of pending patents. What we place high emphasis on is traceability. A paper trail follows all of our incoming pomegranate raw material. Our pomegranates are grown on company-owned and contract farms--some of which are USDA organic certified--for our organic certified line of POMELLA® Extracts. All of our pomegranates are grown without pesticides, fertilizers or genetic modification.
Q: Where can I buy POMELLA® Extract and what products can I find it in?
A: Due to our focus on clinical research and ingredient manufacturing, POMELLA® Extract can be found as the primary ingredient in dietary supplements offered by the most research- and quality-conscious manufacturers. Please contact us so we can help you find a source that fits your needs.
Q: What are 'whole pomegranate polyphenols'?
A: Whole pomegranate polyphenols refers to the natural ratio of polyphenols from whole pomegranate fruit. These are synonymous with 'natural spectrum polyphenols', and contain an abundance of punicalagins as well as a specific ratio of other pomegrnate polyphenols, such as ellagic acid, gallagic acid, and punicalin, that contribute to the synergy of the natural spectrum. The individual polyphenols from this group are determined through validated chemical analysis using HPLC and NMR, two of the most specific and sensitive chemical analysis methods available. Each batch of POMELLA® Extract is analyzed using this precise methodology to gurantee you are getting the same extract as what was used in clinical studies.
Q: Does POMELLA® have anthocyanins?
A: Because of the pharma-type approach, anthocyanins were not the focus of the activities due to their low abundance in whole pomegranate polyphenols, and their limited bioavailability. POMELLA® Extract may have trace amounts of anthocyanins because POMELLA® is the culmination of research showing the synergy of its specific extraction method. However, we do not normally analyze for anthocyanins in POMELLA® for the above reasons.
